Why volunteer for clinical trials
Clinical trials are medical studies that involve people. We use clinical trials to develop new treatments, interventions and tests that can help detect, treat and improve the quality of life for our patients.
Some of our trials examine how people respond to a new treatment and help identify possible side effects, while others compare existing treatments, test new ways to use or combine existing treatments, or observe how people respond to other factors that might affect their health. We also look at ways to diagnose diseases earlier and find out how to prevent the onset of medical conditions.
Most modern treatments are a direct result of clinical research. Without trials, we can’t determine whether new treatments are effective or safe, or whether a diagnostic test works properly. If we want to understand how a new technology works on the human body, there’s no substitute for working with actual humans.
We’re always looking for new volunteers to take part in our trials, and without people our research wouldn’t be possible. Whether you have a disease or not, you could play an important role in advancing care for our future patients. If more people are involved in clinical trials, it may reduce the time it takes for new treatments to become available to the general population.
As a patient, you may be one of the first to benefit from some of the latest diagnostics and treatments during our clinical trials. When you take part, you add to our understanding of disease and help us determine the best way to care for people just like you in the future.
Our trials help save lives through research and if you’re thinking of volunteering, we’d love to have you on board.
